Call to The Work Session of the Board of Directors of the Eagle-Vail Metropolitan
Order District was called to order by Director Allender on March 29, 2007, at 4:38 p.m. noting a quorum was present.
Open Forum An open discussion began on the current Eagle-Vail mil levy, future projects and the possibility of changes to the mil levy amount. Ms. Ahmad distributed a financial outline from Mr. Marchetti with 2005/2006 budget and forecast for 2007. The Board members agreed that the Eagle-Vail recreation facilities need improvements. Director Allender said that the situation is simple: the District has many buildings and the objective is to keep the buildings up and running to better serve the community.
The Board members started a rough draft with the amount that each facility will need just to be repaired, not replaced.
With the object being to pay off the existing debt amount in 2009, the Board members started a discussion about how much operating money will be necessary for the next 3 years.
Director Gilbert asked how much each homeowner would need to pay for the an increase of 8 Mils. Chairman Nichols answered that it would depend on the assessed value of the individuals property. Chairman Nichols mentioned that for each $100,000.00 of assessed value the homeowner would pay $64.00. Director Gilbert questioned how long the homeowner will need to keep paying this amount. Chairman Nichols said that to keep the Eagle-Vail facilities running, the homeowners need to cooperate for the duration of their residency. Chairman Nichols clarified that the money would go to operating and short falls.
The Board members, staff and Mr. Marchetti continued their review of the operating expenses annually for the next few years. Ideas were exchanged and debated.
Openings Ms. Ahmad informed the Board that the Pro Shop and the Driving Range will open on April 16th, and on April 27th 10 Holes will open all with weather permitting.
Cottonwood Ms. Ahmad updated the Board on approximately fifteen trees that may have to be removed from the Cottonwood Drive area. Ms Ahmad was directed to write the letter to the Cottonwood Drive Residents to communicate the tree removal.
