Just the Facts - May/June

We have launched Just the Facts, a monthly Q&A about a key community topic. Our goal is to not only provide you with current, factual information, but spotlight our extraordinary, dedicated staff. This will be placed on the Community Corner page at eaglevail.org, and noticed via official EagleVail Metro District communication channels. Our goal is to address a key topic factually and proactively to better improve our ability to be in front of community questions. Please see below for May/June 2026's Just the Facts.

Just the Facts:  June 2026

While the beautiful EagleVail days of summer are “why we live here,” (for many of us, anyway!), this particular summer will have residents being very conscientious about our water use and fire mitigation efforts. The EagleVail Metro District considers the drought conditions very serious, as well, as we continue to work with our community partner, Eagle River Water & Sanitation District to follow their lead on water management.

What is the current status of water and fire restrictions?

Outdoor landscape watering is currently limited to two days per week – for both residents and EVMD’s water that maintains our pocket parks and landscaped areas.

Eagle County-wide is in Stage 1 fire restrictions to mitigate wildfire hazards:

  • Campfires are only allowed within constructed permanent enclosures, including designated fire grates in developed campgrounds (i.e., a metal, in-ground containment structure).
  • No fires of any type, including charcoal, outside of developed and designated areas.
  • No smoking except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or in a barren area free of vegetation.
  • No use of explosive materials, including explosive targets or incendiary rounds.
  • No welding or operation of an acetylene or other similar torch with open flame, or any other spark-producing device, except in an area that has been cleared of vegetation and with a fire suppression device.
  • No operation of any internal combustion engine without a spark-arresting device properly installed and in working order.
  • No personal fireworks.
  • Outdoor recreational shooting is permitted only in pre-approved, designated areas. Please see the flyer below for more information.

Can you talk more about how the EVMD is addressing drought conditions?

  • EVMD is collaborating with ERWSD to implement raw water conservation strategies for the 2026 irrigation season.
  • EVMD community pocket parks that use potable water are following all outdoor irrigation regulations established by ERWSD.
  • To help reduce outdoor water use, EVMD is significantly reducing annual flower and landscape plantings throughout the community, including at neighborhood entryways, the Pavilion, the golf course and other key locations.
  • Please read more about EVMD water in our spring digital newsletter: https://online.fliphtml5.com/hqvxy/krsv/#p=1.

What is the ongoing nature of chemical applications?

  • EVMD continues its ground squirrel treatment program on the Willow Creek Par 3 course and surrounding areas.
  • Residents will continue to be notified whenever maintenance-related chemical applications are made at EVMD facilities.
  • This summer, EVMD will launch an all-organic lawn care program in West Park. The pilot program is intended to evaluate alternative maintenance practices and explore opportunities to reduce future chemical applications while maintaining healthy turf conditions.

What is the status of the irrigation improvements at West Park?

EVMD will conduct a comprehensive irrigation analysis of the West Park irrigation system. The previous professional assessment was completed in 2017. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the system’s condition and efficiency and identify opportunities for improvement. Independent consultants will assist with the analysis and provide recommendations.

I heard the EagleVail Golf Club driving range will be temporarily closed?

Yes, beginning, Tuesday, June 16, it will be closed for about 3-4 weeks so that we can complete the installation of new netting. During this time the putting and chipping greens will remain open. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we complete this important improvement project.
