Interim Community Manager Selected

Long-time EagleVail resident Jeff Layman was named Interim EagleVail Community Manager at the last Board of Governor's meeting. He signed an agreement that expires at the end of 2011.

The board cited Layman's experience on the EV Property Owner's Association board, his knowledge of the valley and its issues, his association with regional leaders and his track record of cooperation and collaboration in solving community issues as deciding factors in the appointment.

As Community Manager, Layman will be responsible for all EagleVail services, but will focus primarily on helping to manage ongoing master planning efforts, initiating a thorough document review and revision, managing the development of a Community Wildfire Protection Plan and providing community support for the business district rejuvenation. Additionally, he will manage the development of marketing and programming for EV facilities and assist EagleVail committees in completing design, traffic calming and power line burial within EagleVail. Another major responsibility will be bringing EagleVail's new pool on line this summer.

Layman has lived in EagleVail for 24 years and served as a police executive in Vail, Avon and the Eagle County Sheriff's Office for the last 22 years. From 1980 to 1988, he was a Vail Police Officer and first line supervisor. He served for over seven years on the EagleVail Property Owner's Association board and holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration from CU-Denver and a BS in Administration of Justice. Layman has been involved in the community through the Vail Valley Cares board, child safety education programs, the Buddy Mentors program, Boy Scouts, his church and other charitable programs.

"I'm excited about the opportunity to help EagleVail progress during this critical time in its history", Layman said of his appointment. "I am humbled by the Board's confidence in me and I'm determined to make a real difference for our community".
