Meet EagleVail's new Director of Golf!

Hello everyone,

My name is Mark Sassi, and I’ve been fortunate to call the Vail Valley home for nearly 30 years. I moved here from Maine in 1996 and began my local career at the Vail Golf Club as a pro shop attendant and starter—an experience that set the foundation for both my professional journey and my deep appreciation for this community.

From there, I transitioned into the fly-fishing industry, managing several fly-fishing businesses throughout Eagle County. I also spent approximately 15 years at TV8 as a television host, which further strengthened my connection to the people and stories that make this valley so special.

My wife, Jen, and I have raised our two children here, and I truly believe Eagle County is one of the most remarkable communities in the world. The care people have for one another—and for preserving a place that serves both locals and visitors—is what makes this area unique.

Most recently, I spent time in South Carolina managing multiple golf courses, and I’m excited to bring that experience back home to the EagleVail Golf Club. I look forward to meeting those I haven’t yet connected with and reconnecting with many familiar faces.

Looking ahead, my vision for EagleVail Golf Club is centered on three key pillars: exceptional service, a positive and inclusive culture, and thoughtful investment in our golf facilities. I believe the best clubs are built on genuine hospitality—where members, guests, and staff all feel welcomed, valued, and respected. Enhancing a strong team culture that empowers staff and encourages pride in their work will be a top priority.

From a facilities standpoint, my goal is to work collaboratively to enhance conditions across both the main course and the Par 3, maintain the character and playability that people love, and pursue improvements that elevate the overall golf experience while remaining mindful of sustainability and our mountain environment. By listening, planning carefully, and working together, we can continue to grow community pride and make EagleVail a course the community is proud of.

This is an exciting opportunity for all of us to collaborate, strengthen the club, and build on its great foundation. Thank you for the opportunity—I’m eager to get started.

Warm regards,
Mark Sassi
